MaryEllen Free
Mary Ellen Free currently resides in Bainbridge, Georgia, where she creates pastel paintings and pottery at her River Oaks Studio.

Her artistic journey began with a childhood love for color and beauty. From her first set of crayons and pencils, art became her lifelong passion. Throughout her youth, she explored a variety of mediums, including acrylics, pastels, pottery, and silversmithing. This deep-rooted passion led her to pursue a Fine Arts Degree from George Mason University, where she focused on painting, graphic design, and 3-dimensional art.
Mary Ellen began her career as a computer illustrator and graphic designer. While she enjoyed this profession, her true desire was to devote her time to painting and pottery.
Her love for wheel throwing and hand-building has inspired a collection of unique vessels that emphasize animals and landscapes. Using techniques like Sgraffito and sculpture, she seeks to capture and share the beauty of the natural world. As Mary Ellen puts it, “I want to create images that connect people to the beauty I see in the world.”
Her work has been exhibited in prestigious galleries, including the Salmon Gallery in New York, the Local Pottery Gallery in Massachusetts, and the Firehouse Gallery in Georgia.
